Guiding Kids in Science Class

Science is very interesting and favorite subject for students. But sometimes it is hard to keep kids in science classes involved and paying attention. Many times it seems they just wait for the bell to ring. Actually, teaching a science class is a big challenge and more challenging when students are not interested. The problem is on the usual method that bores them. As a teacher, you should do your best and hopefully the info below are valuable for you.
Question and answer are the common activity in class. When your students give right answer, give them rewards. Giving out rewards will keep kids in science classes paying attention to the lecture because they will want to be rewarded again. Handing out bite sized chocolate bars for every correct answer or for those who are paying attention and participating is one good start to keeping kids in science classes. Chocolate will support them with energy that may be just what they need to stay involved.
Then, you can increase their attention by doing experiments in class. Giving kids in science classes visual and live demonstrations, instead of just film or picture demonstrations will keep them alert. Even something as simple as displaying the different colors that appear in rainbow will make the class alive. Ask one of the kids to help you with your demonstration. Usually asking someone will keep the kids attention especially if the kids is popular.
The problem that many kids in science class face is that they go into the same room and stare at the same four walls day in and day out. This can be pretty boring, and even teacher will get bored also. So, why do not you go on field trips or conduct class in another section of the school? It will be more interesting if you are trying to teach them about the physics behind sports in the basketball court for example. Getting out of the classroom once or twice a week is enough to get your students paying attention, and enjoying the period a bit more. They will start to see your class as a fun and it means they will be paying attention.
